How homeopathy can support you during/after surgery

How homeopathy can support you before/after surgery

There will be times in your life when the need for some sort of surgery may be necessary whether it is a minor surgical procedure or a more complicated situation.

The thought of going into hospital is daunting and nerve wracking to say the least and can lead to panic attacks many days or even weeks before planned surgery.  I recall going into hospital many years ago when a small lump was found.  I didn't want to mention it to my parents and put them through any form of worry but the night before I was due to go in I had a bout of diarrhoea and sickness due to the fear of the procedure.   I am delighted to say that the lump was benign and I have very good health.

So what can be done to help you if you do have to undergo surgery. Naturally you will be full of anticipation worrying about how your family will cope while you are in hospital and how long it will take you to recover, so you will be organising time off work, family and friends taking and collecting your children from school, looking after pets, exercising your horse and so forth.  And who is going to cook your meals if you are liable to be bed bound?

Let's start with some homeopathic remedies for the anxiety and anticipation:

Aconite Napellus - this remedy is wonderful when there is a shock to your system and the anxiety is so great that you

Argentum Nitricum - take this remedy if your anticipation is so great that you find yourself craving sweet foods and then suffer with diarrhoea

Gelsemium - when you feel that you have butterflies in your tummy, trembling and continually need to visit the bathroom to empty your bladder.

So once the surgery has been carried out you may wish to take some remedies to speed up your recovery.

Phosphorus is a great remedy if you suffer from sickness after anaesthesia.

Arnica will be helpful if you are bruised after surgery, even if a small biopsy has been taken from a sensitive tender area (i.e. breast).

Staphysagria is an excellent remedy for healing wounds and for the post-operative wind that can occur.

Speaking to your own homeopath is the best course of action to take prior to any investigations since your homeopath will know you best and what remedies will be the most suitable.

Homeopathic remedies can help with the anxiety prior to any surgery and will help you on your way to a faster recovery.
